Raw Essence

“What is real is not the exterior form but the idea, the essence of things.”
-Brancusi

Abstraction generates an emotion of beauty. It is a beauty that is spiritual and comprehensive, unfolding the human element. When one views my art, I want them to analyze it and question the principles of art that have become the ideal standard for society. My motivation is to express forms, colors, and relations that stimulate us by balancing universal beauty and individuality.

Forms create associations and with those associations, it recreates the form. Art is expressive and it shows the truth through form. Every line and every shape has its own expression, it symbolizes a soul. Art is subjectively modified, but nonetheless remains genuine.

This series of work takes the identity away and shows the individual in their purest nude form. By constructing these masks the person’s soul and internal identity are revealed, and by doing so the mask manifests the life of the human mind. Life becomes complex; we become anxious and overstressed by the superficial. We disregard the spirit and drown out the simplest forms. Arising from my aspiration to capture the moments within, form and color give me the capability to generate a universal beauty that expresses the raw essence of art.
