Black and White

Throughout our existence, we strive to create a designation for ourselves. We construct stories that we leave behind to show others what we want them to see. Some lives are productive and some just ramble, trying not to be disheartened by the way they are just drifting through. Your expiration date begins on the day that you are born. Acceptance. After we leave this world, how are our souls and stories remembered?

In today’s world, we have tools to aid us in creating our art, and in crafting our stories. Our tools are perpetually advancing, as should the work of the artist. We create art to show others how our lives are affected by our surroundings. Abstraction begins in the mind. In the mind, the universal laws of art are constructed by expressing intellectual and universal harmony.

Sculptures are created in order to evoke the souls and stories that were once placed on this planet. I have photographed sculptures and manipulated them in Photoshop, composited with geometric shapes to bond the meaning of individuality. I have intertwined the subject with the shape to focus attention on the emotion of the original monument. The perception of death is critical to the human experience.

Defining “life” simultaneously defines death.

Black and white, life and death.
